Record your videoclip

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to talk about using videos projects in the class. Creating and using videos in class in more fun, creative and entertaining. If you give the content in a different and creative way the students will learn the concepts easier and better. Now, with the Internet, we have a lot of sources to watch different videos, but the most common is YouTube which has a huge variety of videos.

Videos are a very good tool to explain concepts that are difficult and abstract to understand. Videos are a good support to have the concepts clear. If the students have to create their own videos they will develop different skills such as ICT skills, also they will have to learn how to search for good information, they will have to learn to cooperate with other students, and the learning to learn competence.

Eva María Roco, Marta Jinénez and I create a video project teaching about the "Seven Wonders of the World". The three of us we go through the different monuments and we talk about some curious information about them. We teach our students like I said before, the "Seven Wonders of the World" and to do this we used a chroma and we added images for each monument as a background. The images we took them from "Pixabay" which are free and the effects we did it with "ZapSplat". We recorded the video first with the mobile phone and then we edited with VSDC Video Editor.

I enjoyed doing the video project with my friends it was fun and it was an activity that I didn't do before and I think I will use in my future as a teacher with my students.

I hope you like it and see you in my next post.

Reflection

Hello everyone!

Here is my next post is a Genially presentation explaining all the activities we had done in the ICT course this semester.

In the beginning, I wrote the different contents that I am going to go through the Genially presentation. First, we create our learning journal in the blog you can see all the entries that we have done during the course. Follow by creating our own Avatar with the Bitmoji app.

For the Image Attribution, I have learned that I can’t still photos from other people that if you do it you need to name the author and also from now on I would take the photos from Pixabay that are free I didn’t know this before and it has been a discovery for me.

In the activity of the Content Curation, I create a board on Pinterest with different pictures about "Wild Animals". In Pinterest, you can take free images and save them on your board.

The Tiny Story activity for me was difficult. I had to think a short tweet that at the same time had to be a short story and with an end. It took me a couple of hours but I like the activity and read my classmate's tweets.

The Educational Slideshows I did it about the classification and characteristics of the "Vertebrates and Invertebrates Animals" from my point of view I should have done it in a more dynamic way.

“Sharing stories through comics” is a very good idea I like creating the comic I think is another way to learn and is a very good way to introduce a new topic in your classroom. Comics are an effective way to introduce your learners to digital storytelling.

I think we have to teach our students how to create good "Mindmaps" from the very beginning so they can learn easier the concepts. Mindmaps are a very effective method to extract and memorize information.

The activity of “Infographic” it was very useful because it is very visual, you only have to write the important information that the students must learn. I would like to do some infographics in class when I am a teacher at a school.

“The video recorder” and the “Podcast,” I think they were great and fun I like them. The “Video recorder” and the “Podcast” are activities very creative that you can do with your students and they will love it because they are learning in a different way.

The “Storyboard” is a great activity to do in groups in your classroom about a specific topic so you can see the creativity and the previous knowledge of your students about a specific topic.

The flipgrib platform from my point of view, this tool is very useful and it is a different way to meet your students better. Teachers let the students express themselves freely on a topic that is proposed to them, and each of the students can contribute something and thus be able to learn from each other.

At the end of the presentation, I recorded my voice talking about the different activities and tools that we used in ICT class.

I like this course a lot I learned different tools that I didn't know before and they are going to be very useful in my teaching. I want to say thank you to Francisco to be our teacher this semester and teach us all these tools it was great.

Here you have a video that I create with Genially app talking about all these tools and all the activities and videos that I had to create.

I hope you like it and see you in my next post!

Flipgrid

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to talk about a new tool called flipgrid is a leading video discussion platform for millions of PreK to Ph.D. educators, students, and families. The teacher creates a new topic on the platform and every student has a voice to give their opinion about that specific topic.

Students can record short and authentic videos and can reply to each other's videos. With this app, we can let our student's creativity flourish with the powerful, easy-to-use recording tools. Students can capture widescreen videos, pause while recording, add more after reviewing, a trim to perfect. They can record a video from 15 seconds to 5 minutes, they can give a short presentation.

In my video, I talk about my first experience working in a school as a Primary English teacher. I have a good experience doing the video however, I had to repeat the shot several times until it came out as I liked it.

I like this tool and I have a great experience with it. I think is a useful instrument to use in your classroom where your students can learn in a different and creative way. Teachers let the students express themselves freely on a topic that is proposed to them, and each of the students can contribute something and thus be able to learn from each other.

Like I said before, it was a great experience and it was easy to do it because you were talking about a personal topic that you decided, you could express your ideas and your thoughts about that specific topic.

I hope you like it and see you in my next post.

Storyboard

Hello everyone!

In this post, I am going to talk about the storyboard, the goals, and the future purpose of this activity.

My group did a storyboard they are going to represent each scene and record it.

Our storyboard is called "Seven Wonders of the World" the film is about three friends Eva María, Eva, and, Marta. Eva María and Marta are bored in the kitchen, they don't know what to do. Eva comes to the kitchen with a brilliant idea. She has three magic balls that allow them to go wherever they want. Taking advantage of them, they will travel and visit the Seven Wonders of the World: The Great World of China, Petra, Christ of Redeemer, Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, Colosseum, and Taj Mahal. Each one is going to visit two of them and will explain to them a little bit of each monument. In addition, they will tell us the continent where it is located and the city. Let's discover each of the seven wonders of the world.
Each girl will take two magic balls and will visit different monuments and, in the end, they will meet again in the last destination.

The teacher has used a template to create the storyboarding. They used the emojis from Bitmoji, images from Pixabay, and Word to make the final images for each scene.

The aims of this activity are:

- To learn the continents.
- To learn about the Seven Wonders of the World.
- To recognize the country where the monuments come from.
- To develop digital competencies.
- To improve listening skills.
- To develop a critical and open attitude towards other cultures different from ours.

Here I let the storyboard that we have created. In the storyboard, you can see the title of our film and each scene and a brief description of each scene. Also, in each scene are different dialogues and different backgrounds of each monument of the Wonders World.

We will watch the video in the classroom and then we will show them the different continents and countries on the map. After they will learn about each monument, we will play an interactive game in which they will have to stand up and point to the country, continent, or the monument. Depending on what the teacher asks them to do and they will have to tell their classmates the other things (name of the monument, country or continent). For example, the teacher says: "point to the Colosseum" and the student will have to point on the map where the Colosseum is, and tell the rest of the class the continent and the country where the monument is.

With this project, students will be divided into seven groups. Each group will be one Wonder of the World. They will have to search for information about the monument and present it to the rest of the class.

I hope you like it and see you in my next post.

Podcast

Hello everyone!

In this post, we are going to create a podcast with the SoundCloud tool. A podcast is audio where you can record explaining a topic.

I create a podcast about "Vertebrates Animal Project" here I explained the objectives that the students must achieve doing the different activities; the competencies in which they will work; and the activities they have to carry out.

The objectives that the students will achieve in these activities are the following: students will describe the characteristics of different vertebrate animals; students will create an infographic; students will record a story; students will describe different habitats of the animals; students will explain the diet of the animals, and students will create a story.

The competencies that the students will develop doing the podcast are the following:

Linguistic Communication Competence: During the lesson, students will face different situations in which they have to communicate, to discuss, ask questions, and interact with their classmates. In this topic, the students will have to discuss how the story is going to be and tell into the rest of the class.

Learning to Learn: The teacher is a guide in the classroom and she will help with the activities they need to carry out. In this way, students will learn to be more autonomous and to solve problems.

Digital Competence: During the lesson, students will record the different stories they have to create about animals. Students will have to research information about an animal; they will use different digital tools.

Social and Civic Competence: Students will work with their classmates so they can develop social skills.

SoundCloud is the tool that I used to make the podcast is very easy to use and enjoyable. I think, students will like it and will learn to do a podcast.

SoundCloud  https://soundcloud.com/ it is an online platform for audio distribution that allows us to make recordings in the cloud, upload audios, promote and share them. The audio tracks that we record or upload can be tagged, categorized, shared on social networks and organized into playlists.

The activities that the students they are going to carry out are two:

The first activity is about creating an infographic. This activity is going to be in pairs, they will research a vertebrate animal which is not very common. Students will research and write about the habitat, diet, threats, distribution, population, and predators. Also, they can insert pictures, so is more attractive. When they finish, each pair will present it to the rest of the class.

The second activity will be in groups of four students and they will have to create a story. The students will choose an animal, in the story, they will write about the habitat of the animal, diet, what the animal like to do, and their characteristics in a creative way. When the students finish creating the story they will record it. Then, we will listen to all of them in class.

This topic is going to take two weeks.

The evaluation is going to be a continuous evaluation. The teacher will evaluate how the students develop their oral skills, their creativity, and how they work in groups. Also, I will evaluate participation and attitude.

I hope you will like this activity. I let you here my podcast about vertebrate animals so you can listen to it. The music that I choose for my podcast is a classical one which you can use in your presentations, videos or tutorials here I let you the link of it. The program that I used to make my podcast is called Camtasia.

See you in my next post.

Here is my channel!

Here is my podcast with the activities.

Here is the Didactic Unit that I will follow to make the audio project.

Canva

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to talk about Canva's tool to make infographics. In this page called Canva you have different templates that you can choose depending on the topic that you are going to teach. Also, you have different elements that you can use to make more visual your infographic such as arrows, free photos, design grids, forms, diagrams, lines, frames, illustrations, and, icons.

With this tool, you can write texts in your infographic to be more clear about what you want to teach. You have different types of letters and size also you can choose the color of the letter. In the text, you have to write the important information that you want to tell your students.

In this tool, you have different free backgrounds which are very colorful and also with textures so your infographic is more attractive for your students. In addition, you can upload images so is more clear and visual to understand the content of the topic.

You can download the picture on your computer and share it with your students.

My infographic is about the "African Lion" where I talk about the diet, habitat, distribution, population, predators, and, threats. I search for information about this animal that I like so much and I think is very interesting and we can learn new things that we didn't know before. Also, I upload different pictures of the lion of how they hunt, how they look like and a map where are they located in Africa.

From my point of view, I think this tool is very easy and attractive to use in your class when you want to explain a specific topic because like I say is very visual.

Here I let you the different links where I took the images for my infographic.

Mindmaps

Hello everyone again!

Today I am going to talk about coggle a tool specially to design your own mindmaps. This tool is very easy, creative, and usuful to use in your class with any topic you will like to teach. You can do it at the begining to introduce the topic or at the end to make a review of the topic.

In my opinion I like this tool because is very visual for the students and they will learn it in a simple way. In the middle you write the principle topic that you are going to talk about, and you add as many branches as you like depending on the different subtopics you are going to teach. Each branch can have a different color so is more attractive. Also, you can add images to understand better the concepts that you are teaching.

My coggle is about vertebrates and invertebrates animals I add four different branches about the classification of vertebrates and invertebrates animals and some principle characteristics about these two groups. Also you can download as an image or share your work with your collegues. Also I add one image for each group so they can identify the animals easier if they have any problem.

I think is a safe page and great to use in your clasroom with your students.

I hope you like it!

See you on my next post.

Sharing stories through comics

I

Hello everyone again!

Today I am going to talk about Pixton tool to make comics. This tool is very useful and easy to make with any topic you like. It is a great idea if you want to introduce new topics to your students they will love it and you can see if they have some previously knowledge about the topic.

Pixton has a lot of different features that you can use to make your comic as you like. You can add as many bullets as you like, also you can add at most three different characters having a dialogue telling a story. You can choose your charactes and make them look as you want changing them their hair, factions of the face, actions they are doing at that moment of the story, put them different accessories if you like, and change the scenary of each comic strip. You can add different speech bubbles as many you need.

My comic is about a day at the zoo. A girl and her mum is spending a day together at the zoo. They see different kind of animals and the mother tell to her daugther some curiosities about the animals.

I think is a safe and effective material for students to work, and also is very attractive. They can learn things before the topic is explained. Definitely I would like to use this tool with my students.

I hope you like it!.

See you on my next post.

Google Slides

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to talk about Google Slides is an application to make presentations. You can do the presentations from the google drive. Is a very useful and easy application to make your lesson plans more attractive.

The application of Google Slides you have different types of themes, letter and, a size that you can put them as you like. You can put different animations on each slide. Also, you can share your work with the rest of your classmates if is necessary.

This time my topic is about the classification and the characteristics of vertebrates and invertebrates animals.

In the classification of the vertebrates animals, we can see five big groups which are: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. We download an image for each group of animals so it will be easier to identify what animals go into each group. Then, we have the principals characteristics of each group of the vertebrates animals and some pictures of them so, we can see the characteristics better.

In the classification of the invertebrates animals, we have two different types:

- Invertebrates animals without body protection: Here we can find the Worms, Porifera, and Coelentereos (jellyfish and polyps).

- Invertebrates animals with body protection: Here we can find the arthropods (scorpion), molluscs  (star) and echinoderms (squid).

Then, we have the main characteristics of each group of the invertebrates animals and some images of them so we can identify properly.

Here, you have the link of my presentation, take a look!

Content Curation

Hi everyone!

In this post, we are going to talk about "content curation", it is an application where you can filter different images and information from other sources.

It is very useful because you can have different sources in only one application and you can use them as many times you want. I create a new board on Pinterest of "Wild Animals" which is my Lesson Plan of CLIL.

In this board, we can find a video of how a lion hunts a gazelle, a song of the different wild animals of the savannah, pictures of the different footprints of the animals, the different offerings of the wild animals, and a documentary of the savannah which is very interesting to watch.

The tool I used is Pinterest I like it very much you have a lot of activities that you can do with your students which are very creative and is very easy to use. I think is a very good resource for teachers.

I hope you like it!

Thank you.

See you in my next post.

Image Attribution for a CLIL Lesson

Hello everybody!

I am going to create a CLIL lesson plan for Natural Sciences about wild animals.
Normally, students really like the topic about animals. I think using images is going to be useful and will help them to understand better about the topic that they are learning. Normally, these types of animals we see them on the savannah.

I think is important to make the students see the different features that each animal has.

Here I leave you some pictures that I would use in this lesson plan:
