Sharing stories through comics

I

Hello everyone again!

Today I am going to talk about Pixton tool to make comics. This tool is very useful and easy to make with any topic you like. It is a great idea if you want to introduce new topics to your students they will love it and you can see if they have some previously knowledge about the topic.

Pixton has a lot of different features that you can use to make your comic as you like. You can add as many bullets as you like, also you can add at most three different characters having a dialogue telling a story. You can choose your charactes and make them look as you want changing them their hair, factions of the face, actions they are doing at that moment of the story, put them different accessories if you like, and change the scenary of each comic strip. You can add different speech bubbles as many you need.

My comic is about a day at the zoo. A girl and her mum is spending a day together at the zoo. They see different kind of animals and the mother tell to her daugther some curiosities about the animals.

I think is a safe and effective material for students to work, and also is very attractive. They can learn things before the topic is explained. Definitely I would like to use this tool with my students.

I hope you like it!.

See you on my next post.

Google Slides

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to talk about Google Slides is an application to make presentations. You can do the presentations from the google drive. Is a very useful and easy application to make your lesson plans more attractive.

The application of Google Slides you have different types of themes, letter and, a size that you can put them as you like. You can put different animations on each slide. Also, you can share your work with the rest of your classmates if is necessary.

This time my topic is about the classification and the characteristics of vertebrates and invertebrates animals.

In the classification of the vertebrates animals, we can see five big groups which are: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. We download an image for each group of animals so it will be easier to identify what animals go into each group. Then, we have the principals characteristics of each group of the vertebrates animals and some pictures of them so, we can see the characteristics better.

In the classification of the invertebrates animals, we have two different types:

- Invertebrates animals without body protection: Here we can find the Worms, Porifera, and Coelentereos (jellyfish and polyps).

- Invertebrates animals with body protection: Here we can find the arthropods (scorpion), molluscs  (star) and echinoderms (squid).

Then, we have the main characteristics of each group of the invertebrates animals and some images of them so we can identify properly.

Here, you have the link of my presentation, take a look!

Content Curation

Hi everyone!

In this post, we are going to talk about "content curation", it is an application where you can filter different images and information from other sources.

It is very useful because you can have different sources in only one application and you can use them as many times you want. I create a new board on Pinterest of "Wild Animals" which is my Lesson Plan of CLIL.

In this board, we can find a video of how a lion hunts a gazelle, a song of the different wild animals of the savannah, pictures of the different footprints of the animals, the different offerings of the wild animals, and a documentary of the savannah which is very interesting to watch.

The tool I used is Pinterest I like it very much you have a lot of activities that you can do with your students which are very creative and is very easy to use. I think is a very good resource for teachers.

I hope you like it!

Thank you.

See you in my next post.

Image Attribution for a CLIL Lesson

Hello everybody!

I am going to create a CLIL lesson plan for Natural Sciences about wild animals.
Normally, students really like the topic about animals. I think using images is going to be useful and will help them to understand better about the topic that they are learning. Normally, these types of animals we see them on the savannah.

I think is important to make the students see the different features that each animal has.

Here I leave you some pictures that I would use in this lesson plan:
